Be a THATCamp Feminisms Fellow!

Interested in using digital/new media to think about culture, society, and community? Curious about the ways that gender and technology interface? Want to enable more people to utilize the tools of our networked world? Become a THATCamp Feminisms West Fellow!

We are happy to be able to welcome a small cohort of undergraduate students from the Claremont Colleges as TCFW Fellows, courtesy of support from Intercollegiate Women’s Studies, Scripps Gender and Women’s Studies, and the Intercollegiate Program in Science, Technology, and Society.

Student Fellows will be able to participate in all of the THATCamp activities – including some great meals! Fellows will learn about Digital Humanities, pick up some DH skills, and be a part of the conversations around feminisms and digital technologies. This is a great chance to be a part of setting a new agenda for DH and to meet some wonderful people.

To apply, visit the Registrations page and tell us why you’re interested in being a TCFW Fellow. Spots are limited, so don’t delay!

Workshop planning

We’re busy getting ready for our March 15th and 16th events here at THATCamp Feminisms West.

Currently in the hopper:

a virtual and in-person Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in celebration of Women’s History Month and dedicated to increasing the volume and quality of feminist content on Wikipedia.

a set of hosted workshops – have a workshop you’d like to offer? Have something particular you’d like to know more about? Let us know in the comment section below!

Sessions! As always – you can also post suggestions for sessions, which will be decided by our campers on Friday in a collaborative planning effort.

What’s happening now…

Here at THATCamp Feminisms headquarters we are grateful for cooler weather and that the leaves are finally turning. I’m very pleased to report that we have sister events being planned on the East coast and in the South! While we won’t be running concurrent sessions, we will be tweeting across meetings and perhaps launching a joint wiki-editing storm to help bring more feminist content to Wikipedia.

Barnard College is hosting THATCamp Feminisms East

Emory’s DiSC is hosting THATCamp Feminisms South

Here at TCF West we have a block of rooms reserved at the Doubletree hotel, which is just down the street and has a great shuttle service. Check back here for a link to our special conference rate.

We are busy putting together a few budgetary items and thinking about the kinds of workshops we might like to see held – have an idea? Add it to the suggested list!

Where to stay – we need your help!

March is a busy month here in Claremont. In addition to THATCamp Feminisms, Scripps will be hosting the Women in Public Service Project and the Institute for Women’s Leadership in Latin America. We would like to ensure that we have plenty of room for our campers at the nearby Doubletree Hotel – where rooms run 114.00/night.

But we need a sense of how many of you need rooms before we sign a contract. Help us out and leave a comment or tweet that you’re planning to be in town so that we can get a sense of numbers?
